Acquiring Herd Immunity may not have been the official policy of the Trump administration, but it appears that the way they decided to attack the COVID-19 pandemic was by acquiring Herd immunity. They were not trying to acquire Herd immunity by inoculating enough people. Their plan, which failed to Share with the nation, was to have enough of the disease.

The only nation that unofficial tried to reach Herd Immunity by letting their Citizens get sick was Sweden. Sweden failed miserably. The death rate (Deaths from COVID-19 per 100,000 people) is astronomically above the rest of Scandinavia,

When you look at those numbers there is no question that Sweden had a colossal failure. They admit that they had a colossal failure. So why would the United States follow an illogical plan that didn't work when it was tried? Because Donald Trump knew better than Dr. Fauci. The doctors at the CDC were saying from the beginning do not strive for Herd immunity, by having a large number of the population catch the disease.

Through this incident of purposeful negligence, Donald Trump has basically had the United States on a path to Herd immunity A terribly slow path. The United States average is 94.6 per 100,000 death rate from COVID-19. That is astronomical! Compared to all our close neighbors (except Mexico, which also failed to come up with a workable plan. ) we too have failed miserably.

How difficult would this all have been for him to have a plan?

President Obama left him a plan, which he chose to ignore that plan.

He then asked his "son-in-law," Jared Kushner to design a plan. Upon receipt, he chose to shelve that plan too (Please note that Kushner's plan is generally considered a good starting place.

Had Trump been able to implement a plan, that kept us on par with Canada's success rate, we would have saved approximately 186,000 lives.

But in all fairness to Donald Trump, he's tired of hearing the word COVID-19.

Trump decided on his own solution, he would just ignore the problem. instead, he would concentrate on his newest problem

That should not last too long. The Republicans in Congress will not stand for that!! Although we may disagree on the method, they want the same as we Democrats and will not support a coup d’état. You see how nice they are, it only took them 7 months to give American citizens $600 each.
